A group of students and teachers from the Japanese School in Qatar recently visited the Mesaieed power plant (2,000 MW) for a field study. The power plant is located in Mesaieed Industrial City and it is developed, owned, operated and managed by Mesaieed Power Company Limited (M Power).
The Japanese School delegation including 39 Japanese students and nine teachers was also accompanied by the principal of the Japanese School Koji Ide and general manager of Marubeni Corporation’s office in Qatar Takeshi Kumaki, who is also the chairman of the Japanese School in Qatar.
The students visited the power plant and the central control room and were taught about systems of power plant and technology to generate electricity in detail as per the requirements of their syllabus after an awareness session on environment, health and safety.
At the end of the visit which was arranged by M Power in coordination with the Japanese School in Qatar, the chairman, the principal, teachers and students expressed their happiness while the CEO of M Power Mohammed al Harami thanked the delegation for visiting M Power and presented a commemorative gift to the principal.
It is worth to mention that M Power is a Qatari company owned by joint venture between Qatar Electricity and Water Company (40%), Qatar Petroleum (20%), Marubeni Corporation in Japan (30%) and Chubu Electric in Japan(10%). M Power has developed, operates and manages Mesaieed power plant. The power plant is to supply electricity to Kahramaa grid.
